What is the exact error message you get when installing C++ and what version of it?

You say "none of the programs..."  What other programs will not install?

Please run a system file check(SFC) & DISM if you are on win 8 or higher

I get this message:

"The process cannot continue because the (Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86)) install was unsuccessful. Please contact Microsoft technical support for assistance. The installation will now abort."

I have manually installed it, but it still won't install the video editing software. This has happened with Cyberlink Powerdirector and Corel Video Studio.

Are either of them compatible with win 10?  If these versions are compatible with win 8.1 they may work if you install them in compatibility mode

(works in vista, win 7, win 8, and win 10)

I have tried everything you have mentioned; nothing seems to work. I also checked to see if the program was compatible in Windows 8.1, and it is. I used the program before in Windows 7, and I had no problems with installing it.

I was thinking that maybe the software was not compatible, but then I tried a different software program, e.g. Corel, and that did the same thing.

I really don't have any other alternatives at this moment. I am computer savvy and can pretty much solve my own issues when it comes to working with Windows, but I am stumped with this one....

If they need C++ 2008 & C++ 2010 they are old apps.  If running them in compatibility mode does not help them I suspect they are not fully compliant with win 10 despite what their developers suggest.

Are they both the newest versions of each?

I have the latest version of Cyberlink PowerDirector, yes. I am going to try other video editing software programs to see if they do the same thing.

I just downloaded WonderShare, and that works just fine; however, it doesn't have all the editing tools that I need.

I will keep you posted if I find something that works or a solution to my problem.

Not sure what your needs are but there is a decent video editing app from techsmith (PAID) called Camtasia.  I do not do very comprehensive things but it does fill all the basic needs (plus I get it for free)

I've had MS Visual C++2005 redistributable versions  8.0.61000 & 8.0.61001 on all techpreview

builds since last year.  All my video editing software works o.k.    currently on 10049.

ZigZag3143,

I have the exact same problem as Brian! This is the error message "The process cannot continue because the (Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86)) install was unsuccessful. Please contact Microsoft technical support for assistance. The installation will now abort." Here is the twist...

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package SP1 (x86) was successfully installed! I also uninstalled it and reinstalled it successfully and still receive the same error message. I have also run the SFC & DISM as you had suggested all errors were corrected and I still have this error while trying to install Cyberlink Power Director 14 as well as the Corel video editor? I am at a dead end! Any help would be appreciated. I am running Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

I am getting the exact same error message as ZigZag3143 when trying to reinstall Cyberlink PowerDirector 14 on a fresh install of Windows 10 64 bit!

I had PD 14 successfully installed on a Windows 7 computer and when I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, it worked fine. After a few weeks using PD 14, I had an unrelated problem and took my computer to the shop where they reformatted and re-installed Windows 10. Now I'm trying to put my programs back as they were and I got this problem with PD 14 not installing.

Hopefully someone has a solution!! Cyberlink, any help for us??
